I’ve been a lot more active on Kickstarter these past few months.

Yes, I’m an old comic book geek, so I’ve helped contribute to a few graphic novel releases (the one for FAUST just closed today).

But I’ve also been contributing small amounts to young filmmakers to help get them started, most recently:

I don’t know any of these filmmakers - but I hope they get their start. 🙂

That's awesome of you. I haven't been on Kickstarter in forever. Are filmmakers still finding funding with those? I know most people burned out after awhile.

I’ve got a couple shirts I’ve already seen, and there’s a few others I contributed to that are currently filming. So I remain hopeful. 🙂

Oh good! I spoke with a filmmaker who did the kickstarter thing and offered exclusive swag for supporters. They said it was a total nightmare and lost like 2 years to keeping those promises.

I think a lot of people promise too much or try to offer too many choices, forgetting they have to fulfill those promises once they get the money.

Make it simple. Keep the pledges basic and easy to follow through on so they can spend their time making the movie they were asking for the money for. 🙂
